Dr. Madhu Suresh, PhD is a licensed clinical and health psychologist. She earned her doctoral degree from Palo Alto University in Palo Alto, CA. She completed her completed her pre-doctoral internship at Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta, GA and her postdoctoral clinical fellowship at DLA Psychology Center in Chicago, IL. She also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL with a focus on caregiver research. She has published papers and presented research at national and international conferences.
Dr. Suresh’s prior experience and training include working within multiple medical care centers, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient mental health clinics. Her clinical specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, and life transitions. As a health psychologist, she also supports clients struggling with acute/chronic medical conditions (e.g., autoimmune conditions, cancer, diabetes), sleep issues, or chronic pain, and she has extensive experience supporting medical students and healthcare workers, including residents, fellows and attending physicians.
Dr. Suresh’s approach to treatment is integrative, utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy, and strengths-focused interventions. She also uses cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure for trauma, and dialectical behavioral therapy. Therapy with Dr. Suresh is collaborative and supportive as she fosters a space to freely process the questions and feelings you’re experiencing, and to help you gain insight and solve problems with practical solutions that play to your strengths.
